Michael Smith

Michael Smith serves as Vice President of Systems and Implementations at LBMC W Squared, where he leads the firm’s accounting systems strategy and oversees client implementations. Since joining W Squared in 2006, Michael has been instrumental in helping clients successfully transition, scale, and optimize their financial operations through thoughtful system design and execution.

With a strong foundation in accounting and deep expertise in back-end systems, Michael is known for his versatile skill set and practical, solutions-oriented approach. He brings a unique ability to bridge the gap between accounting and technology, ensuring that systems not only function efficiently but also support long-term client growth. His hands-on leadership style allows him to quickly understand challenges, work alongside his team, and deliver effective, scalable solutions.

Michael has extensive experience supporting clients across a variety of industries, with particular strength in healthcare. His expertise includes revenue cycle management, mergers and acquisitions, and building infrastructure to support high-growth organizations. He enjoys working closely with clients to solve complex problems and is especially skilled at building trust early in the relationship—setting the foundation for long-term partnerships.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. He and his wife, Reagan, live in the Nashville area with their daughters, Charlie and Emily. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time on the golf course and cheering on his daughters at their softball and volleyball games.
